AMALGAMATION BY JENNIFER JOHN

Amalgamation

AMALGAMATION is a new commission piece created by singer songwriter Jennifer John. It is a medley of songs and sounds that reflect the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020.

“It was a real honour for me to be commissioned to create a new composition in celebration of Black History Month. I thought long and hard about what I wanted to say and in the end it felt right to acknowledge and incorporate the lyrics and melodies of some of the amazing local black artists who have inspired my own creativity and who continue to produce stunning work that then becomes the soundtrack of our lives.”

“AMALGAMATION is a fusion of my own songwriting alongside the work of King Fast, The  Real Thing, Leetz L8, Kelly Shimeya, The Christians and MiC Lowry. I knew that Sense of Sound Singers would be the perfect fit to perform it and we did so at the iconic Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. It was a joy to be ale to perform with my ensemble again after so long. We sang our hearts out and really appreciated the opportunity to perform together again. A real blessing.”
