What's the best way to travel to LIMF?

Every year, LIMF welcomes more visitors from all over the UK and beyond and here’s how you can find us…

By Train

With regular services running across the Merseyrail network, and great value tickets, getting to LIMF 2022 via train could not be easier.

Many of the venues and spaces for LIMF are just a short walk from a Merseyrail station. There are four underground stations in Liverpool City Centre – Liverpool Central, James Street, Moorfields and Lime Street low level. Passengers arriving to Lime Street Station on national rail services can access the other three city centre stations via the underground at Lime Street low level.

Staff will be available at the underground stations to provide any travel advice and make sure you get the best ticket for your journey.

Plan your journey to LIMF 2022 now using Merseyrail’s simple Journey Planner here and use the ticket calculator to quickly check which is the cheapest ticket for your journey.

By Bus

Unfortunately, there is planned strike action by members of Unite and GMB on Arriva services. This is set to take place from Wednesday 20 July and continue for an indefinite period.

Key travel information and advice plus a summary of alternative travel options are included on the Merseytravel website.

By Bike

If you’re coming from close by, why not download a copy of Liverpool’s Cycle Map, which shows the nearest cycle routes and bike parking in the city centre. If travelling by train or ferry, bikes go free and are welcome on both.

Not got a bike? Then why not take advantage of the City Bike hire facility where you can sign up, collect and drop off a bike at any one of the on-street stations. Its self-service, so no booking is needed – just turn up and go. See citybikeliverpool.co.uk for more details.

Please remember though, if you are travelling by bike to wear bright clothing and use bike lights if you are heading home after dark.

By E-scooter

400 hundred e-scooters are available to hire in and around the city centre, getting you from A to B in the fraction of time it would take to walk. They cost £1 to unlock, plus £0.20 per minute. Users must have at least a provisional driving licence to hire an e-scooter and please note it is against the law to ride on a pavement. Find out more at voiscooters.com.

By Taxi

There are many taxi’s in and around the city, just make sure they have an up to date licence and agree in advance how much it will cost to get you to where you need to be.

By Coach

National Express offer great value travel to Liverpool from across the UK. Online fares are available from £5 one-way (plus £1 booking fee), and coaches stop at Liverpool ONE Bus Station right in the heart of the city and the LIMF festival.

For more information and to book click here.

By Air

Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport is not too far from the city centre where LIMF is set to take place. Unfortunately, regular bus services to Liverpool are currently disrupted due to strike action. Key travel information and advice plus a summary of alternative travel options are included on the Merseytravel website.

You can find more detailed information about flight timetables here.

What time is LIMF?

There are several gigs happening in and around Liverpool during 29th – 31st July. All timings can be found on the relevant event page:

www.limfestival.com/events

What is LIMF?

A music festival that brings together global household names alongside exciting emerging new talent, showcasing exactly why Liverpool is a UNESCO City of Music.

Who is LIMF aimed at?

This is a music festival suitable for all ages. Please note the festival this year will take place across multiple venues, which have individual age restrictions.

How do people get in to see the festival?

There is something for everybody, including paid for tickets, free tickets and just turn up events.

Tickets go on sale on Friday 20 May at Early Bird prices.

Under 12’s are free (as with LIMF) and across the weekend we will be running several free gigs in some venues – more information is coming soon, keep an eye out on www.limfestival.com for more details.

Why not join the conversation on LIMF social media as well. Here you will find out what is happening and when.

LIMF used to be a free park event, why is it moving out of the park?

LIMF has been a paid for ticketed event since 2019. We ticket at a very low price point to ensure it’s accessible and to ensure we can deliver the festival year on year.

The move has been prompted in a bid to re-energise and support the city’s music sector, which was severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Do you have to pay?

For some events, yes. This is largely a ticketed festival with all venues and shows across the three days individually ticketed and priced. There are events that are free of charge, full details will be released soon and can be found on www.limfestival.com.

All tickets are general admission and unless stated, are standing.

Early Bird Standard Admission Tickets start from £5 plus booking fees.

Children aged 12 and under are FREE but still need a ticket to enter the festival site.

(Please note, there are a selection of venues that are strictly over 18+. These shows are highlighted and will not offer a FREE child’s ticket)

Are there any concessions on paid for tickets?

There are no concessions for paid for tickets – children under 12 years are free and some LIMF events are free of charge.

We are able to offer a personal assistance scheme for anyone needing the active support of another person to attend our festival. To claim a ticket for a personal assistant at no extra charge, you must purchase a full price ticket and meet the below criteria.

Personal assistant tickets are available to customers with one or more of the following:

  • Disability Living Allowance
  • Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • Attendance Allowance
  • Personal Independence Allowance
  • A certificate of visual impairment
  • Official / documented evidence that you are registered as severely sight impaired   (blind)
  • UK-recognised identification for an assistance dog

We will also require a copy of some form of photo ID (such as a driving licence or passport) to support your application.

To register for the Personal Assistance Scheme, please call 0344 335 0437 or email accessibility@accliverpool.com referencing Liverpool International Music Festival in your correspondence and our ticket provider TicketQuarter will guide you through how to claim your personal assistant ticket.

How will I receive my tickets?

All tickets are digital and will be sent to the email address on the booking within minutes of purchase. The ticket will be attached to this email.  The email will be from tickets@ticketquarter.co.uk with your individual booking reference as the email subject. Please check your junk folder.

Who do I contact if I have a ticket enquiry?

Please contact the ticketing provider for the individual LIMF event, this will be either Ticket Quarter or Liverpool Philharmonic Hall or Ticket Master depending on event.

Is there a restriction as to how many tickets I can purchase?

It depends on the event and ticket provider. Tickets are generally limited to 6 per transaction.

Are there any participation activities?

No.

Are there any age restrictions?

Yes. Due to the nature of the festival being hosted across multiple venues, there are individual venue age restrictions in place.

Please see individual venue listings for specifics but overall, children aged 15 and under need to be accompanied by a responsible adult (18+) at all times.

Ages 16+ do not need to be accompanied by an adult.

Several of the venues and LIMF shows are 18+.

ID checks are in place across all venues.

Is there anywhere to buy food and drink at the event?

Each venue will operate a bar and sell drinks, with several also offering food.
Bag searches will take place, which may mean a delay in gaining entry into the festival. Any unopened drink containers will be confiscated on entry.

Please note, no alcohol can be brought into any venue.

Can I bring my own food and drink to the events?

Outdoor venues and spaces may allow you to bring your own food and drink – please check with each specific venue though for the latest rules and regulations to avoid disappointment.

Is there anything else happening in the city at the time?

During the LIMF weekend there are a variety of different musical events taking place at venues across the city for all ages and abilities. There are other cultural events and activities taking place across the city, for further information go to the events calendar on the Culture Liverpool website: www.cultureliverpool.co.uk/events

Alternatively, if you have an enquiry regarding specific events and activities unrelated to LIMF, you can speak to our Tourist Information Team on social media or email at cultureliverpool@liverpool.gov.uk and they will be happy to support you with activity suggestions for residents and visitors alike.

Is there any parking?

We encourage you to use public transport where possible. Full public transport information can be found on the Merseytravel website: www.merseytravel.gov.uk

There is plenty parking near to each of the LIMF venues. Please plan your journey so you can arrive ready to enjoy the festival.

Is disabled parking available?

The city centre has a number of blue badge disabled parking bays available but please see individual venue websites for locations of their parking.

Is there disabled viewing?

As each venue is different, we recommend that you contact each venue individually to find out about their disabled viewing areas.

Are there any disabled toilets?

As each venue is different, we recommend that you contact each venue individually to find out about their disabled toilet facilities

I have an assistance animal. Am I able to bring it with me?

We strongly advise you to check with each individual venue for advice regarding assistance animals.

Will there be any road closures?

We will not be putting in any road closures around any venue across the three-day festival. Please see liverpool.gov.uk for roadworks or work that is happening in the city.

I have tested positive for Covid but I have purchased a ticket – what do I do?

No, tickets will only be refunded or exchanged if the event is cancelled.

Do I have to wear a mask / I want to wear a mask to an event – what are the requirements?

In England, face coverings are no longer required by law. The government suggests that you continue to wear a face covering in crowded and enclosed spaces where you may come into contact with other people you do not normally meet. For the most up to date government guidance please visit www.gov.uk/coronavirus

Is there more information?

More information will be released over the coming months and can be found at www.limfestival.com as well as on the LIMF and Culture Liverpool social media platforms.
