DJ STRETCH ARMSTRONG
NYC native Adrian Bartos PKA Stretch Armstrong is an internationally recognized DJ with an incomparable career that has spanned three decades. The 1990s hip hop legend programmed the ‘Stretch Armstrong Show with Bobbito’, which has been lauded as one of the most important radio programs ever. Stretch has worn many hats – label owner, A&R Director, music supervisor, writer, radio host – but his anchor has always been a deep passion for music and a desire to share that with others.
He is equally adept at playing new, underground music as he is with foundation music – classic hip hop, reggae, soul and R&B. Part of his story, the radio show he did with Bobbito Garcia, has been made into a critically-acclaimed documentary film that the two collaborated on, called ‘Stretch and Bobbito: Radio That Changed Lives’.
Recently, Stretch co-authored ‘No Sleep: NYC Nightlife Flyers 1988-1999’, a boom that chronicles the cities nightlife via flyer art and an oral history by various cultural luminaries.
