LIMF 2016: ITS A WRAP!
5 incredible days, 8 phenomenal events, more than 300 artists and 120,000 of you wonderful LIMFers made up a truly special LIMF 2016!

Sigma, The Wombats, Lianne La Havas, Wretch 32, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Craig Charles and more than 300 incredible artists provided spine tingling moments on the Central Stage of LIMF Summer Jam, whilst throughout the city Gilles Peterson, Buzzcocks, Lightning Seeds, Incognito, Dennis Ferrer and more dazzled crowds as part of the LIMF Presents series. The Itsliverpool stage showcased many of the amazing up and coming acts that the city has on offer combined with local heroes such as John Power and Dave McCabe & The Ramifications, whilst the LIMF Academy stage highlighted the incredibly diverse emerging musical talent in Merseyside.
The festival doors opened on Wednesday with the LIMF Presents: 76-16 From Eric’s To Evol Panel event in partnership with the Guardian, as leading lights in counter-culture came together to discuss the impact of the genre on the UK music scene. Thursday welcomed the Gilles Peterson curated LIMF Presents: From The Soul event, who was joined by Incognito, Omar, Carleen Anderson and Ady Suleiman for a night of smooth soul.
The highly anticipated LIMF Summer Jam opened in Sefton Park on Friday night kicking off in epic style with outstanding performances from the LIMF Academy whose collaboration with the Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Company made for an unforgettable show. Then the phenomenal Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra had the audience singing along to their collection of movie soundtracks and Liverpool’s famous songbook. Friday night also saw LIMF Presents: House Nation, curated by Circus’ Yousef, within the exotic surroundings of Sefton Park Palm House. In an exploration of house music culture from around the world Yousef invited Dennis Ferrer, Hector, Reboot and Lewis Boardman to the decks. We even brought the sun on Saturday as the Sefton Park crowds revelled in the eclectic line up as people of all ages danced and sung to the sounds of the city and beyond. Then it was on to LIMF Presents: 76-16 From Eric’s to Evol [Punk / New Wave] in a celebration of 40 years of punk with Poltergeist and Clinic setting the scene for the Buzzcocks.
Sunday’s LIMF Summer Jam arrived with much anticipation with the crowd’s continued energy and enthusiasm. Anne-Marie brought her edgy brand of urban pop to Sefton Park, Craig Charles’ epic brand of funk & soul resulted in a crowd dance-off and The Wombats’ set made a spectacular end to an unforgettable weekend.
Over at the O2 the finale to the LIMF Presents series proved nothing but punktastic as Sugarmen, The Clang Group and Pete Wylie & The Mighty WAH! all played sets before the Lightning Seeds brought LIMF to a close in style.
